As the culmination of your research series, you will write a Research Paper that synthesizes the major points of your research. Your paper must focus on your selected topic and how the research relates the topic to grief, trauma, and the human stress response. Start with a general overview of trauma and/or grief in your introduction before going into your narrow topic for the body of the report. Your paper must relate your research findings to the content of this course, the major theories of crisis counseling, and biblical perspectives on crisis counseling. Key areas of concern are: 1) dynamics common in your population-of-interest; 2) best practices in crisis intervention; and 3) spiritual applications/interventions. The content of your research must be discussed in depth, discussing the main themes found in your research articles, field interview, readings, video presentations, and course content and how they align. In your conclusion, you must suggest how your findings could be used towards a future research study.
Your paper must be 10–12 pages. Any submissions less than 10 pages will be heavily penalized. Current APA formatting must be used throughout the paper, including a title page, abstract, and references list. The title page, abstract, and references list do not count toward the required page length. You must also use APA headers, Level 1 (and Level 2 and 3 as needed) APA headings, an introduction, and a formal Conclusion section in the body of your report. At least 15 scholarly sources, including the 10 you previously submitted, must be used to support your findings and research. At least 10 of your sources must be published within the last 5 years. Be sure to review the rubric for additional requirements before submitting your paper.
Submit your Research Paper by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Sunday of Module/Week 7.
