Conservation and preservation activities are currently part of all national forest management programs. The “Bridger Teton Environmental Science†video discusses the controversy between those who want to harvest the resources of one section of the forest in an environmentally friendly way and others who believe it should be left in its original state.

Write two letters to the editor of your local newspaper.
· The first letter must be from the standpoint of a conservationist and the second one must be from the standpoint of a preservationist.
· Include in one of the letters a description of how the four steps of environmental risk assessment might be used to evaluate the risks of development of your resource.
· Each letter must be 350- to 700-words each.
Use the Bridger Teton, Hetch Hetchy Valley, or another example of your choosing for your letters.
