1. In her study, Banerjee considers the role that gender plays in immigrant families. What specific questions does she ask? Why is it important for us to understand gender dynamics within these families? Banerjee concludes by discussing the gendered consequences of current visa laws. What ways could current policies be revised in order to minimize issues such as economic dependency for these families?

A new, more egalitarian gender frame may take root, which would eventually benefit both men and women†(p. 646).
