3. For this assignment, you will see that the bulk of the paper surrounds the Electronic Health Record. I am to propose the use of a particular EHR for my business and cover precisely what the grading rubric is asking for. The business plan gives you some basic information on the EHR.
4. Assessment of the Proposed EHR: provide a detailed description of the proposed EHR, its components, cost, and requirements for continued technical support (this section should be at minimum 1-2 pages)
5. EHR Criteria: (Review Chapter 14 in McGonigle et al) Discuss in detail how the proposed EHR meets the requirements of the ARRA (NIST certification criteria), health information and data, results in management, order entry management, decision support, electronic communication connectivity, patient support, administrative processes, and reporting data for population health management. (The book we are using is called “Nursing Informatics and the Foundation of Knowledge” by Dee McGonigle and Kathleen Garver Mastrian)
6. Strengths and Weaknesses: Compare and contrast the strengths and weaknesses of the proposed EHR.
7. Cost Analysis: Provide a cost analysis of the estimated dollar amount required to implement the proposed EHR into your business. Provide a proposal for coverage of this cost with a return on investment analysis. Incentives available for reimbursement are expected to be discussed. Also, provide a cost analysis for ongoing technical support for your proposed EHR with a budgetary breakdown.
8. Administrative Applications and Patient Safety: Explain how the proposed EHR will support administrative applications (i.e. billing and coding, scheduling, interoperability, reports/data analysis, etc.). Also, discuss how the proposed EHR will ensure compliance with HITECH and HIPAA.
