Film comparison

Description

Select two movies (of your choice) from different eras – at least 15 years apart (e.g. – one film from the 1930’s and one film from the 1970’s) and view them in full. During each viewing, identify one character and take notes on his/her personality. Note how their personality and behaviors are (or have been) affected by the prejudice in other characters and the environment.
Summary Report Paper (1-2 pages, typed):
1) Give a brief summary of each movie and its plot. Identify the characters you chose to follow and take notes on. Explain why you chose these characters. (Note: Your chosen character(s) may be either a “victim” of the prejudice that is present OR a “perpetuator” of that prejudice OR a “witness” to that prejudice.)
2) Discuss each character’s personality and behaviors throughout the film(s) and how prejudice in another person, a group of people or the surrounding environment influenced him/her. Give at least 2 examples for each character to illustrate your points.
3) Compare and contrast the two (2) characters to each other. Discuss how the era when the film was produced and the era the story is set in may indicate and explain some of the character’s traits and actions as pertains to the prejudice they experience. Be sure to compare the time periods to each other and why you think this may also have a considerable effect on your chosen characters.
