Merger Project Part 1

Project Overview

In this project, you will research and explore major mergers that have occurred within the last 10 years. Through exploring the process and outcomes of major mergers, you will gain an understanding of both the advantages and disadvantages of mergers and the important role HR professional play during these transitions.

Due Date

Your final project is due in Module 05. There will be individual assignments along the way. The assignment and the module they are due are noted in bold on the time line below. As you can see, your first assignment “” is due this module.

Your paper is to include background information, merger details, the HR role, and outcomes of 3 major mergers in the last 10 years. Your final project, built in phases, will be at least 8 pages long and meet APA standards for presentation including properly citing sources in APA format. Part 1

Research and discuss 3 major mergers in the last 10 years. For the first part of your paper, you will discuss the history and background of each company (6 companies in total). You do not need to go into any details regarding the merger at this point.

In 2-3 pages answer and describe the background of each company involved in the merger. Some examples to include in the background:

• When were the companies founded?

• What do the companies sell or produce?

• What are the mission and vision statements of the companies?

• Where is the company located? How many people does the company employ?
