Research Topic will be �Downfalls of Different Empires�.
For your research paper, you will be tracing one element of Western Civilization- a person, an idea, an event, etc.- through time, constructing a historical narrative. In order to complete this assignment, you need to do the following:
First, succinctly but thoroughly summarize your topic. What or whom are you writing about? Where and when did it happen? Be specific.
Next, describe its predecessors- which things/people that came before influenced or helped create it?
Then, describe how it influenced elements that came after it. what were its near-term consequences?
Finally, describe its continuing influence, if any, today.
The paper should be three to five pages, double spaced, 12 pt. font, Times New Roman, standard margins. It should also include footnotes, cited in MLA, APA, or University of Chicago style.

Grammar, Spelling, and Mechanics: 20%
Proper Citation and Attribution: 20%
Accuracy of Historical Description: 30%
Insightful Analysis and Argument: 30%.
